Quick story- about a week ago I was working at the gym. An older woman comes up to me and says “your hair is so beautiful.” I said thank you! She says “yes, it’s beautiful, but why do you cut it?” (Pointing to my shaved side.) I smiled and Said, I like it. I think it looks good. Her eyes widened and kind of rolled a little. (As if she was disagreeing) There was a long pause before she asked “does your husband like it?” I looked at her, still smiling and said, yes he does, but even if he didn’t, it doesn’t matter because I like it. She stayed quiet for a long moment so I added, it doesn’t matter if anyone else likes it or not because I love it and that’s all that matters. Again she stayed quiet as I moved on training my client.
2 things- 1. She interrupted my training session to tell me her unwanted opinion. 2. She insinuated I needed my husbands approval, or anyone elses for that matter before rocking a look I love.
A few points to this story- 1. Think before you speak people. If I was younger, I may have been influenced by what she said and felt bad about myself. Thankfully, I’ve learned that the only opinion that matters is my own. 2. Don’t ever trade your authenticity for anyones approval. Whether you know the person or not. You deserve better. You deserve what makes you happy. If it makes you happy, no one elses opinion should matter. Not everyone will understand you, and that’s okay. What matters is that you are you. If you are someone who constantly seeks approval, you are not being yourself. ✨The moment you stop chasing the approval of others, you become free to be yourself. Do you, babes and rock it! ✨ beauthentic personaltrainer healthymindset wbff domin8
