This is the banyan tree in downtown Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. One big, beautiful tree.
A banyan tree can look like many trees in close proximity to one another, but is in fact one single tree. Prop roots sprout to form other supporting trunks that allow the tree to spread out laterally and many times it is very difficult to distinguish a supporting trunk from the main one.
But each trunk is unique. Each branch is different. Yet they all work together in unison to form one massive, beautiful tree.
We could learn a lot from the banyan tree. We are all different. We are all unique. But if we will work together in unison and prop one another up rather than fighting each other and tearing one another down; we can be a massive, beautiful community.
Look for the best in others. Don’t be negative, be positive. Hold someone else to the same standards you are willing to hold yourself to. Without letting yourself be used and abused, forgive freely and love deeply. Treat others better than you expect to be treated.
Nui ke aloha! 🤙🏼❤️
