There is a lot of information available (books, podcasts, blogs, YouTube videos, social media posts) around the psychology of personality traits. There is no doubt that science, through psychology and other social sciences have assessed the importance of the social dominance hierarchy. Whether you like it or not, you have a place in this social dominance hierarchy. A bit of pseudo--science, that is currently very popular through-out wannabe psychologists (I admit, I am one) is the linking of the four main personality categories that humans have adopted from the study of wolf packs.
Most men will like to think of themselves as an Alpha Male, as that is the title given to the hero of the story. Fearless in the face of adversity, resilient against all odds. However in reality, very few of us are actually Alpha males. In our heads, when we replay scenarios that have gone or when we make up scenarios that don't exist, we always play out the hero. What we think SHOULD have or will happen if we were alphas.
Other personality styles are BETAs, somewhat maligned due to the link with SJWs, Snow-Flakes and Male Feminists, but in all reality, these somewhat feminised male roles are probably better linked to the Omega Male. Both the BETA and Omega are classed as subservient to the Alpha. However there maybe areas of where the traits cross over between each other, but Omegas are considered to be lower on the dominence hierarchy than the BETAs. The final personality style out of the main 4 is the SIGMA. The one who walks his own path. The cool association is, the lone wolf.
Like it or not, we all have a role to play in societies hierarchy, you may not like your role or it may not concern you, but there is a lot to learn about your position and the effect it has on your success and detriment.
