Attracting dream clients is hard and marketing yourself is even harder. How do you find the time to design and promote your work? And is it even worth putting in the effort?
Is it better to create one project and share it to 1,000 people
1,000 projects and attract dream clients over time instead?
Which would get more projects in?
The marketer in my brain says I need to create one amazing design and sell it to one thousand people.
Whereas the creative in my brain says, I should make one thousand design projects to attract dream clients.
It’s like having an angel on one shoulder and a demon on the other, yelling back and forth into a mind-numbing loop.
@jonpersson and I were discussing this recently trying to find the perfect balance between marketing yourself and creating design projects.
You have to strike it somewhere in-between to make sure you have a consistent set of leads coming in and time to continue making design projects. It's a constant cycle of create and share.
Unfortunately it's a tough question with an impossible answer because it will be different for every single person.
However, I think if we all marketed ourselves a little more, put an extra hour in each week, we could probably all get more projects.
So, when do you have to flip the switch and share some of your work?
Do you spend time each week sharing your work or creating new case studies? How do you get past this problem?
