Valentine’s Day, 1999 - a multiracial couple conceived the first of their three daughters. It was a magnificent spring day in Cape Town, South Africa when the bundle of joy - weighing below three kilograms - was brought into the world at 14:10 on the 5th day of the 10th month. Her parents decided to honor her Syrian ancestry by naming her after a Syrian queen, 𝓩𝓮𝓷𝓸𝓫𝓲𝓪. 𝓢𝓴𝔂𝓵𝓪𝓻 – meaning strength, love and beauty - was the middle name they decided on, as it honored her Arabic and Dutch roots. 𝓖𝓻𝓪𝔂 was her last name, one she had despised until a perspicacious friend of hers enlightened her to its deeper meaning: “gray is composed of white and black, two opposites. It means there’s more than just one side to you”. Being raised in a rather strict Muslim family, she knew that they would never accept her for the 𝕡𝕒𝕟𝕤𝕖𝕩𝕦𝕒𝕝 agnostic that she was so she took whatever cash she had and ran away to New York as soon as she graduated high school. Once she had found her feet in the seemingly endless city, working as a dancer whilst simultaneously majoring in English, Film and Media with aspirations of becoming a journalist. The 5’4 woman is a 𝕤𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕔𝕙 with abhorrent kinks that she is far too open about. She’s the proud mother to 3 cats and 2 dogs. Her dark past, that has not been mentioned, has shaped her to be the incredibly caring, adrenaline-junkie that she is today.
