Confession: I didn’t know that PPG (the name of this well-known, pointy building behind me) stood for Pittsburgh Paint Glass until the day these were taken 🙈 I grew up here and will always love this city so much (even if I don’t know the names of its famous landmarks apparently lol). I’m especially excited that Pittsburgh is the first city to kick off the Healthy Happy America campaign led by @headspace ! Come join me on November 15 and 16 for events and activations at Schenley Plaza - so far, I plan on going for a run, meditating with the founder of Headspace, and enjoying locally-baked brownies. Yes, BROWNIES!! Y’all known I’m always down if there will be baked goods hehe 🤪
But in all seriousness, I am stoked that Headspace is coming here because it’ll be an amazing way to learn more about mindfulness and actually be more mindful in a natural way. I’ve been much better about being more mindful and present this year but here’s another confession: I’ve never successfully meditated in my life. I’ve tried a few times, but never consistently. Every time I think of meditation, I picture Julia Roberts in Eat, Pray, Love and then I honestly feel silly trying. I have a hard time sitting still and turning my brain off, which I know many of you can relate to. I really want to commit to taking more time out for peaceful moments to myself, especially living in a city where it feels like the hustle and bustle never stops.
I love that the Headspace app teaches the basics and guided you into meditation in bite-sized chunks. I also love the sleep music on the app - so soothing and perfect for when anxiety hits me and I’m tossing and turning. Still very new on this meditation journey, but I’m excited to see where it takes me. Head to my stories for more info and for the link to the #healthyhappyamerica event (which is free)! Hope you’ll join me in getting happier and healthier, Pittsburgh ☺️ #headspace
