Ever heard of gúre (water leaf in Yoruba language)? Recently, my boss taught me how to make gúre soup. Let me put you through it 😁
Get some gúre leaves, wash properly and put aside in a sieve to drain away the water. In a separate bowl, wash rodo (red pepper) and blend with a big bob of onion. Put aside your food encouragement (stock fish, meat, snail, etc).
Now to the cooking:
Pour sufficient amount of oil in the pot which is already on fire. After 1mins, pour in your pepper sauce. Let it cook for about 10mins then add in your food encouragement 😋 , seasoning, salt. No curry and thyme please. Let it cook for about 6mins. Then add your already washed gúre. At this time make such the sauce on fire isn't having too much water. The reason for gúre being called water leaf is because it secretes its own water when heated. You don't want a "omí yalé of Ibadan" situation. Let the soup simmer and then you are done. Serve with your best swallow (púrupú, iyán, àmàlà...) Even though I haven't tried it my self😂, I'm salivating it already 😉😋 #gen131_photography
