I haven’t done one of these in a while, but as this community grows I want to take the opportunity to reintroduce myself.
My name is Liz Carlile, I’m a mom, wife, sister, friend, health coach and host of the Motherhood Unstressed podcast.
My story isn’t that unusual, I was an overwhelmed mom trying to balance the demands of work, raising two boys, having decent relationships, and staying healthy—all the while, I felt like I was failing miserably. There was so much PRESSURE, and whether it was real or imagined, it was ruining my quality of life and stressing me out.
The turning point came when I was bathing my son, and I just started to cry. I knew there had to be a better way. I knew in my gut that I shouldn’t have to choose between being an engaged mom, a perfect wife, physically fit and work full-time. I was tired of trying to be and do it all. So I stopped.
I decided in that rock bottom moment that I was going to put on my oxygen mask first and make my self-care the priority. From that point on everything changed. I started saying no to things that didn’t bring me joy and yes to things that did. It was really that simple.
When I decided to start the blog to process the changes I was going through, it took off and my blog posts became published articles that reached tens of thousands of people. I knew I was onto something and that my story mattered because it was helping other people take care of themselves, maybe for the first time.
As a coach that’s what I help my clients do, and as a result they lose weight, start eating better, and have greater self-awareness and peace.
As a podcast host I have the opportunity to speak with amazing people from all walks of life to discuss topics like motherhood, purpose, entrepreneurship, sex, finances, relationships, health and so much more. Already the show has reached thousands of people and continues to grow exponentially each week. The show’s success is confirmation that we all are looking to bring more knowledge, growth, balance and understanding into our lives. It has been so much fun, and it is absolutely my passion.
