One of the very well known stanzas of Ghalib which talks about a man's complaint about not getting a kiss from his lover is translated below: Both original Romanized Urdu lines as well as Hindi (to the best of my abilities) lines accompany my translation. .
you make life miserable just
showing me your quivering rosy lips,
if not kisses, give me some answers at least !!!
dikhaake jumbish-e-lab hee tamaam kar hamko
na de jo bosa, to muNh se kaheeN jawaab to de
दिखाके जुम्बिष -ए -लब ही तमाम कर हमको
न दे जो बोसा, तो मुंह से कहीं जवाब तो दे .
