Cologne’s Pride Parade or CSD (Christopher Street Day) is most definitely the biggest festival in celebration of the city’s diversity, openness, tolerance and acceptance. In 2019 Cologne attracted around 1,200,000 attendees, who celebrated together by dancing and singing for nearly 5 hours under the blazing sun along the parade, crossing the Rhein river and the city center. There is something very unique and special about this pride – it’s not your typical massive 24/7 party with no boundaries, but it isn’t just a protest either. CSD Cologne is a beautiful mixture of literally all races, sexes, genders, ages, sexualities, social backgrounds, political views, it’s a celebration of differences and similarities, combined beyond contrast in the name of human rights, equality, peace, love and harmony. On this march all you can see is love and all you can feel is empowerment, warmth, acceptance and belonging.
