Last year, during Verdi 23/06 by @inandoutedisu, I decided to partecipate with a performance about relations, violence, emotions and sexuality. People could touch me, embrace me, kiss me, threaten me, slap me, groped me, insult me, make me a compliment or tell me comforting words, but I couldn’t react. All this actions were expressed by means of the metaphor of culinary recipes in a restaurant menu where people could choose what to do to me as real customers. I chose food because is something obvious on which we don’t focus. Something we take for granted. I didn’t want to create something new, a lot of artists did the same kind of performance, more or less similar; I did it for myself. The aim was to defeat my fear of unkown people and body-violence, to lose control and to put me in other people hands trusting them. Furthermore I wanted to analyze if at the first reaction I had prejudices when someone approaches me, and above all I aimed to ask the people: “what are you able to do when a person voluntarily offers itself to you as an object on which you can do what you want? And have you the courage to express your sexuality, aggressiveness and emotionality when someone is looking at you?”. Violence, emotions and sexuality are often hidden or belittled, by now they are something trivial in our society. This is not ok. We need to talk about them, to denounce violence, to express emotions and not to be ashamed of our sexuality. My performance was red as our human passion and power. My shadow was dual as our manifest and hidden, moral and immoral, accepted and rejected interior sides.
