Part 2, Hagerstown Blues Fest: Albert Castiglia. Like a lot of guitar players, I really like the testosterone of a solo like this (and appreciate the practice it took!). I can get bored with it though, if it consists of mostly scales played for speed’s sake and just doesn’t say anything. I once heard B.B. King say he couldn’t play fast so he went for expressive. That’s my excuse, though meaning often eludes me, too. (as illustrated yesterday—not being humble, just a fact). Sigh.
