Even though this first year in my 30s turned out to be the most challenging, scary, tear-filled, and frustrating time of my life [for all sorts of reasons], I can truly say it has also been the most eye-opening and rewarding year at the same time. Lets take a min to talk recovery because ya girl is strugglin to walk😂😂 • • •1️⃣ FOOD/WATER: First off you need to fuel your body with proper nutrition. 70% diet 30% gym. You CANNOT and you WILL NOT out work a crappy diet. Ensuring that you get the correct amount of nutrients is important to support weight loss and muscle growth and essential to replenishing your body. As far as water goes you should aim for a gallon a day!! 💦💦💦 •2️⃣REST/SLEEP. Running 20 miles a day and lifting for 3 hours is not the answer to getting the results you want. On a serious note, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. If something hurts, stop. If something tears, breaks, stretches, etc, STOP. Do not overwork yourself. Instead, set goals and work your way up to where you want to be. Give yourself time to rest and although sleeping for 8 hours a day isn’t realistic...like at all...hahaha try to get as much sleep as possible. •3️⃣Stretching/Foam rolling. Well if you’re anything like me you struggle to touch your toes😂😂. I personally HATE stretching... but it is so important!!! Stretching improves flexibility, posture and can even prevent injuries. So before anybody else will believe in you..., you’ve got to believe & trust in your self. Wait for the last 10 seconds 😬, that’s genuine pleasure that I got ‘em up! It’s always a question of to go heavier or not, depending on if I’ve got a spot. When I started lifting, it was 10 lb dumb bells a few years ago, now with a spot I can go up to 50 or 55 per arm depending on rep scheme & in a few weeks i should hit 60 with all the shoulder presses & volumizing..., but only if form is good!! You can chunk your way up to heavier weights if you don’t know or feel comfortable asking for a spot. Either increase weight & lower reps; or decrease weight & increase reps until you get strong enough to go heavier. At end of prep I was at 5 sets of 20 for most exercises; each stage of competing there’s a different focus. After a 3000m warm-up row at easy 2:30 pace; this is my last set after lifting shoulders for 1:15 today. I’m loving the increased carbs in my off season as I prep for Nationals. A “fitness transformation” takes place, first, in your mind. If you want to change anything, you first have to transform your mind sent. You have to commit mentally before all else. . If you’re anything like me, consistency is the biggest struggle. My biggest piece of advice is obsess over your goals. If it’s to be consistent, overload yourself with quotes about the benefits of consistency. If it’s to lose weight, gain muscle, eat healthier, put it all in front of your face via social media, sticky notes, books, etc. Obsess yourself with all things good. If you can consistently fill your visual perception with what you want to achieve, your body will follow suit. . Transform your mind. Transform your body. . Those feels when Colorado FINALLY has a day that actually feels a little bit like Fall! 🤗🙌🏻 It’s been so dang hot lately that I haven’t dared to do an outdoor workout until today 😅💦 Perfect timing though since my car is in the shop getting new tires today (RIP to my bank account 💸😭) so I cant drive to the gym! I’ve actually been doing quite a few at home workouts lately and tbh I’m loving them because they’re totally different from what I do when I’m in the gym! I asked last week if I should share some of these types of workouts and a lot of you said yes so here we goooo! All you need for this is a set or 2 of dumbbells and a band! . Videoing my supplemental work lately has helped me see things I need to keep working on. Like my anterior tilt! I've always had an increased lordosis (lower back arch), and I work on it quite a bit, but I can really see it on the second exercise here where I'm side stepping. I know a lot of girls try to increase their anterior tilt lately for aesthetic reasons, but it can increase lower back compression so I'd advise against it. TuckNTighten and have fun with these ones 😘 🔸Medball Explosive Pass - working on full hip extension and explosiveness 🔹Paloff Banded Side Stepping - anti-rotation through the core and lateral strength through the hips make this a 2 for 1 🔸Tall Kneeling Landmine Press - more great stability challenge by taking your presses to your knees. This one can also be good if you have difficulty or pain with overhead mobility. 🔹Banded Dumbbell Bench Press - I was skeptical about this one at first but once your get it set up it definitely challenges the lockout of the press. BRITISH JUNIORS 2018 Meet recap Squats - 127.5/137.5X/137.5 A bad cycle leading up to the meet meant I had lost a lot of confidence with squats and hadn't successfully squatted over 130kg for about a month. Despite my opener moving fast I got scared and cut my second attempt high. Ended up sticking with it on the third for a 2.5kg PR which was slightly irritating as I felt I had another 5kg in the tank here. Bench - 77.5/82.5/85X Since bench has been going so poorly until the past couple of weeks I wasn't really sure how to feel about this lift. Opener moved very nicely but didn't set up as well for 82.5kg which was slow. Felt pretty light headed after this and had no energy left to try 85kg. Deadlifts - 157.5/170/172.5X A poor cycle leading up to the meet for deadlifts as well, and by the time I got to them in the meet I was pretty tired. 157.5kg felt heavy but moved fine so jumped to 170kg as planned for my second. I was confident with this attempt but knew immediately afterwards that the strength wasn't there for any more on the day. Finished with 137.5/82.5/170 6/9 at 69.8kg BW. 2.5kg squat and total PR. Overall disappointed with my performance as I've already mentioned multiple times but somehow managed to scrape 4th in a STACKED 72kg class nonetheless. A much less than ideal peak with me travelling for essentially the entire thing as well as the block leading up to it. Thanks to salmanatorrr for the coaching as always and sticking with me even though I've made coaching less than ideal the past couple of months. We have a lot to implement in the next block including resetting my RPE scale 😅. Looking forward to having some time to build properly into the 72s. Also big thanks to lahart33 and rpe.ellie who came to support me on the day and last but not least theparthtopower for the slaps and encouragement.

I focused on keeping my heart rate low. Then I went to my HitFit gym thehitfitgym to get strength training in. I have been going to the gym about 4-5 times a week after my runs.
