As I sat in church this morning during worship, I suddenly became overwhelmed with emotion and sadness in thinking about leaving Lemoore and having to say see you later to all our friends here. Between the retirement we attended last Friday, David gone and church today, I’m a mess!
Yes, we are excited to go and get out of the bad air. If you ask David, he may even tell you we’ve been counting down the days since we first got here.
Yes, we are excited to be closer to family.
Yes, we are excited to see what adventure awaits us even though the territory is familiar.
But there is so much emotion that comes with the coming and going of military life and moving to a new duty station.
Get plugged in they say. Get connected. Make the most of your time while you are there. And so you do, because you know otherwise being a hermit will only make the time drag on and life be miserable. So, in the short few years you are somewhere, you make the most amazing friends. Even just thinking about not seeing them often brings me to tears.
I’m so thankful for all the friends we’ve met and made over this military life. Life wouldn’t be the same without each and every one of you!
To think of being settled some day in one place without having to move for years to come is exciting but yet I’m not sure how I feel about it!
