🔸 My past few posts I've been talking about a whole food, plant dominant, low fat, high carb diet and it's benefits for 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬 & 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬.
🔹 A common problem observed when someone switches to this kind of diet is they often don't eat enough!
🔸 Whole foods have intact fibers (𝐒𝐎 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝟒 𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐒), and often a higher water content than processed foods, AND are less calorie dense. You can eat banana, apples, carrots, broccoli, beans, oats and potatoes until stuffed... and still not have consumed a ton of calories compared to more processed foods.
🔹 Even the more calorie-dense plant based whole foods such as sweet fruits, potatoes, beans, and whole grains have less calorie density than most of the high-fat, processed foods you’re accustomed to eating.
🔸 Now yes, a lot of these processed foods do have fiber too, but it's often 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘳. This is different to the intact fiber found in whole foods. Added fiber has been hydrolyzed and processed, resulting in shorter cellulose chains 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥.
🔹 When switching to a low fat, plant dominant, whole food way of eating, 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 when compared to higher fat processed foods.
