Turns out today is Friday? Better plan your wild Friday night cocktail! This whiskey highball is light and refreshing and matches this glorious spring weather we’re having. Also let’s play a game called Allergies or COVID? . Whiskey Highball (0 carbs) 2 oz bourbon (we used @shdistillery) 4 oz club soda 3-4 dashes bitters (we used @bitterslab) . The bitters are you key flavor enhancer. Think of them like choosing your la croix flavor- that little delicious background punch. We used Charred Cedar and Currant here- it’s amazing. Use whatever you have- ginger, orange, aromatic. . Bitters also trick your palate into thinking your drink is sweeter than it really is, so use a couple dashes and skip the simple syrup. Cajun Shrimp Guacamole⁣⁠ -⁣⁠ Made by @bevcooks. . . Serves 4⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ 4 Tbs. Olive Oil⁣⁠ 1 Tbs. Cajun seasoning⁣⁠ 1 pound medium (or extra-large!) shrimp, peeled and deveined⁣⁠ 3 Hass avocados⁣⁠ 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper⁣⁠ 1/2 cup thinly sliced scallions⁣⁠ 1/4 cup chopped yellow onion⁣⁠ zest of 1 lemon⁣⁠ 1 Tbs (or more to your liking) fresh lemon juice⁣⁠ coarse salt and freshly ground pepper⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ Use half the olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium-high. Add 1/2 Tbs. of the Cajun seasoning to the butter/oil. Stir it all in. Add half the shrimp and sear on one side for 2 minutes. Flip and sear another minute or so. Season with salt and pepper. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ Add the remaining oil and Cajun seasoning. Bloom for a second, then add the remaining shrimp. Sear her up, you know the drill. Set shrimp aside.⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ Half each avocado and remove the pit. Scoop out the flesh into a big bowl. Add the red bells, scallion, onions, lemon zest and juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mash it all together with your fork, until it’s smooth, but still good and chunky. Perfectionism. AHH. There’s this quote by Anne Quindlen, “The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For me, it’s been really challenging not having perfect numbers. At the same time, I’m not setting myself up for success. Falling victim to self-sabotage over here. 😫 I admit: I’m not counting my carbs. I’m guessing and entering it into my PDM. I’m eating fast-acting carbs and letting my sugar spike. Yeah I’m not really taking care of myself. It’s weird because when I was diagnosed I was being SO perfect. It’s like when you start any new diet right? The first time it’s kind of new and exciting lol. But then you realize it’s not going away. AGAIN, it’s a lifestyle change not a temporary fix. It’s hard to come to terms with that. I‘ve had to mentally remind myself, “Trying is better than sabotaging. Progress, no matter how small it is, is better than not trying at all.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There’s this really amazing book by @brenebrown called “The Gifts of Imperfection” and let me just say — it was the first personal growth book I read and the amount of takeaways I received SHOCKED me. But let me tell you why, there’s a correlation between shame and perfectionism. She says “Where perfectionism exists, shame is always lurking. In fact, shame is the birthplace of perfectionism. [...] Perfectionism is not about healthy achievement and growth. It’s the belief that if we live perfect, look perfect, and act perfect, we can minimize or avoid the pain of blame, judgement, and shame. It’s a shield. Perfectionism is a twenty-ton shield that we lug around thinking it will protect us when, in fact, it’s the thing that’s really preventing us from taking flight.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So instead of saying “Ugh. My numbers are terrible. I’m ashamed of myself. I need to be better than I am now to be accepted.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Say this: “I want this for me. I want to feel better and be healthier. The numbers don’t dictate if I’m loved or accepted. If I believe I’m worthy of respect now, I will invite courage, compassion, and respect. I want to figure this out for me. I can do this.” ❤️

Créditos: @vidafitsemstress ❤️ (ótima opção de lanche da tarde e pós treino) 🍗300g de abóbora cozida sem casca; 🍗300g de file de frango cozido, desfiado e temperado; 🍗200g de farinha de grão de bico (Não é low carb) 🍗Sal e temperos a gosto. . Cozinhe a abobora, espere esfriar e amasse ( não cozinhar muito, apenas o suficiente pra conseguir amassar, senão fica difícil fazer a massa) . Acrescente o frango desfiado, misture. Então acrescente a farinha aos poucos (usei farinha de grão de bico; outras farinhas podem variar a quantidade, então acrescente aos poucos). . Quando pronta, a massa fica um pouco mole, mas não gruda nas mãos. Deixe alguns minutos na geladeira se necessário. . Unte as mãos, pegue uma porção de massa, abra, recheie como preferir (usei queijo muçarela e creme de ricota) e feche a massa em forma de coxinha. Não coloque muito recheio, senão fica difícil fechar. . Asse na airfryer ou forno 200° até dourar. . If you have diabetes, you simply cannot continue this way - sooner rather than later you WILL die; either from diabetes, its complications, or side-effects from the drugs you take. And it won't be quietly in your sleep either. Getting rushed to the hospital while the paramedics break all of your ribs giving you CPR will be hell on earth. . Spending your last moments with tubes and pumps and ventilators in unbearable agony, you will wish you did something sooner. . If you are OK with slowly losing your vision and then going blind as diabetes destroys the blood vessels in your eyes causing them to wither and die, if you're perfectly fine with dying 9 years earlier, possibly not waking up tomorrow, dropping dead at any moment or having your legs amputated. Veggie bacon omelette ✅✅ . . I really enjoyed this omelette. I used the @vivavivera bacon bits which are in my opinion the best vegetarian bacon there I have tasted.. . Simple to make. In a non stick pan (no oil needed) dry fry a handful of onion, mushrooms and the @vivavivera bacon then sit to one side. . Break two eggs into the pan (no oil) along with a chopped spring onion and give a quick mix. Cook through until it’s mainly set then add the pre cooked mushrooms etc. Then put a sprinkle of reduced fat cheese. Then finish off under the grill. Fold and serve on a bed of raw spinach (or whatever you enjoy). ✅💯 . . The “garlic oil French beans”, the “spicy peanut sauce” and the “turmeric fish”. What a unique, delicious, healthy and balanced diet. . . Ingredients: 300g French beans 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced 🧄 2 fresh medium ocean trouts 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp gluten-free flour 4 Tbsp cooking oil 1/2 fresh chilli 🌶, finely chopped 1/2 fresh lemon juice 🍋 ——————————————————— 150g raw peanut, toasted & coarsely grinder 🥜 1 stalk lemon grass, thinly chopped 1/2 brown onion, finely chopped 🧅 3 cloves garlic, minced 🧄 3 cm ginger, finely chopped 3 fresh chillies, seeded & finely cut 🌶 2 dry tamarind, cut into small pieces 2 Tbsp cooking oil 1/2 cup boiling water 1 tsp brown sugar 1 tsp salt . . Method: 1. Grind the lemon grass, onion, garlic, ginger and chillies together. 2. Sauté the chilli paste in 2 tablespoons of oil in a small pot, until fragrant and slightly dry. 3. Add boiling water, peanut, tamarind, sugar and 1 teaspoon salt. Keep simmering in low heat for 15 minutes. 4. Meanwhile, steam the French beans for 15 minutes on low heat. 5. Season the fish with turmeric powder/salt/flour mixture. 6. Sauté the garlic slices in 4 tablespoons oil (in nonstick pan). Take them out. 7. Shallow fry the seasoned fish for 15 minutes each side. Or until the skin is crispy. 8. Serve the fish, with peanut sauce and steamed French beans. 9. Add garlic, fresh chilli & lemon juice on top. 10. This is different to the intact fiber found in whole foods. 🥗Here is a tasty lunch time salad that I wanted to share with everyone🤤⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I usually pack my work lunch the same morning, so I usually look for something quick, healthy and delicious to have and this salad checks all the boxes for me.✅ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 🎈You’ll need:🎈⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 1/2 an avocado 🥑⁣ ⁣ 150g of quinoa (for a bit of protein)⁣ ⁣ 1/2  a red pepper (diced) 🔔⁣ ⁣ 1 Tomato (sliced) 🍅⁣ ⁣ 1 Cucumber (sliced) 🥒⁣ ⁣ Feta (alot, because cheese is life) 🧀⁣ ⁣ 3 tbsp Olive oil ⁣ ⁣ 2 tbsp Balsamic vinegar⁣ ⁣ Salt and pepper ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Overall the salad is around 44g of Carbs. How’s everyone doing? How are you adjusting to quarantine life? . Here’s a spicy cabbage soup recipe that is very customizable. You can use pretty much any veggies you gave on hand. I got this recipe from a FB group I’m part of (thank you Durva Bhatt!). . I tweaked the original recipe and added some brown rice pasta to it to make it a filling one-pot meal. . Spicy Cabbage Soup . Ingredients: 1/2 Head Medium Cabbage chopped, 1 tsp Turmeric Powder, Juice of 1 lemon, 1 tsp Coriander powder, 3 Carrots cut into chunks, 2 Diced Bell Peppers (chunks), 1 tsp Ginger paste, 1 tsp red chilli powder (or 2 tsp if you want a very spicy soup), 2 Cloves of Crushed Garlic, 1 Chopped Red Onion, 3 Potatoes cut in cubes, 1 Can Reduced Fat Coconut milk, 1 tbsp Bouillon plus 4-5 cups of water (or use 4-5 cups veggie broth instead of bouillon and water), Salt according to taste and 1 cup of cooked whole grain pasta (I used brown rice elbow pasta), chopped cilantro for garnish. . Method: Add the chopped onions to a big pot and stir till lightly browned (use a few spoons of water instead of oil if required). Add the ginger and garlic and stir for 30 secs. . Add the broth (or bouillon plus water) and cook potatoes and carrots for around 5-8 minutes. Next, add the cabbage and bell pepper and cook for another 5-7 mins or until cooked. Add the cooked pasta. Add all the spices and coconut milk and stir well. . Add the lemon juice, and garnish with chopped cilantro.
