The record breaking 182.9 metre expedition yacht REV build is set to complete construction at German yard Lloyd Werft in April 2021 after which REV will be fully operational as the most advanced research vessel in the world.
REV first hit the water on August 24 2019 at the Fincantieri/ Vard Holdings yard in Tulcea, Romania. When complete, the vessel will be 2.3 metres longer than Azzam, the world's largest superyacht.
Although REV will not be considered a fully-fledged superyacht, it has been developed in collaboration with leading superyacht designer Espen Øino.
Advanced oceanography equipment will be fitted on board that will allow REV to survey marine areas, currents, the seabed, fish, animals and plant.
REV has been designed to be as fuel efficient as possible, with an energy recovery rudder system, medium speed engines, a direct drive diesel-electric propulsion system, and an exhaust cleaning system.
Other features will include a multifunctional cargo deck and storage for an autonomous submersible, as well as laboratories and an auditorium.
Accommodation on board will be for a total of 36 guests and 54 crewmembers, while the maximum beam is 22 metres.
