SYMPOSIUM 2019 | Verticality
📌Fashion Competition DEC 16, 10AM-10PM | Asian Art Museum | 200 Larkin Street | San Francisco @asianartmuseum
The day after the successful Seminar (which offered a chance to the public to learn more about the Fashion industry through the eye of 5 brilliant designers) Monday, December 16 was the full day dedicated to the International Arts of Fashion Competition 2019, starting with the Portfolio Session, Jury session and Runway Show & Awards Ceremony.
Part THREE - 📌 BEFORE the Runway Show & Awards Ceremony
In addition to the 50 candidates’ portfolio exhibition, the welcoming reception was the theater of an ephemeral display in the grand staircase of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco with some exquisite pieces of the work of the two Guests of Honor 2019: Yiqing Yin and Noureddine Amir.
Born in Beijing (1985), Yiqing Yin is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs de Paris (2009). She immigrated from China at the age of 4 to France then Australia. Living between countries, her clothes have often provided her with a point of reference.
She aims to create a garment that protects and reinforces, being at the same time a second skin and a flexible armor. Examining the dynamic potential of pleats, she imagines unfixed structures and volumes that are always in mutation. She sculpts the emptiness around the body through the pursuit of balance and points of disruption between flowing zones and sculpted zones.
The Fédération Française de la Couture rewarded her work through the attribution of the Haute Couture Appellation and, by doing so, the status of official member (2015).
