Lakan is a Filipino-international poet, writer and a spoken word artist, of Alab at Sinag - Tula Pilipinas and Ardour Singapura. He had performed in close to 1,300 events, since he started in September 2017, in events and venues such as; the Mall of Asia Arena, the Music Museum and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He has also performed abroad in events such as; the Hong Kong New Music Festival at University of Hong Kong, Oral Fixation at InTun Nation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and won 1st runner-up at the GAIA Poetry Slam 2019 at the Southbridge Hotel, Singapore.
He has been invited to numerous events on social issues such as the Violence Against Women Campaign, Help the Homeless Campaign, of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, benefit events for HIV, Leukemia, and mental healt. Lakan also spoke at the World Speech Day 2019, in Makati, The Philippines, for sustainability in the arts.
Lakan holds the unofficial world record of the longest impromptu spoken word poetry using three languages (Filipino, English, Spanish), performed in March 7, 2018.
His poetry has been featured in publications such as; the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Town & County and Lifestyle Asia Magazines. Lakan was also invited to perform his pieces in radio stations such as; MOR 101.9, LSFM 97.5 and Wish 107.5. He was asked by The History Channel to perform at the HistoryCon 2018, at the World Trade Center Manila.
Lakan took a creative writing workshop in poetry, from the California Institute of the Arts. He also holds a certificate in Spanish from the University of the Philippines.
